Welcome to Bexhill Museum's Education Page! 

Bexhill Museum offers visits to the museum, outreach to schools and guided walks. 

This page contains information about the education services available at the Bexhill Museum.  

School Visits:

We have developed a teacher's pack which is available upon request. For general education enquiries please contact bexhillmuseumed@gmail.com or telephone 01424 787950.

The Museum has introduced a new system for the Education Programme. The Standard Visit is still available, but we now also offer an Enhanced Visit package, which offers a formal museum led experience. This new package includes the use of our new Education Room.

Standard Visit

75p per studentThis includes a free 10 minute introductory talk
Enhanced Visit£1.50 per studentThis includes the use of the Education Room, a Guided Tour or Teaching session and an Education Pack per student.

Throughout 2010 and 2011 other subjects will be added. Some of the subjects coming soon are:

·         Maps, Plans and Proposals

Group bookings are available Monday to Friday all year round, subject to booking and availability.

Educational Outreach and Walks

The Outreach and Walks service is available to all schools subject to availability and the terms and conditions as stated in the teacher's Pack.

Outreach

£30 plus transport based on mileage at 30p per mile or public transport equivalent.This includes illustrated talks and object handling. The Outreach Programme is restricted to certain subjects based on what our collection can support and the practical concerns of transporting artefacts.
Walks/Off site Guided Tours£30 plus transport based on mileage at 30p per mile or public transport equivalent.These are mostly restricted to specific subjects although other subjects may also be covered. Please enquire at the Museum.

The Outreach and Walks service is restricted by subject.

Throughout the year the Museum will be adding further subjects to its Outreach service. These will include:

·         Smugglers of Bexhill and the South Coast
·         Tudors – Sir Thomas Sackville and the Dukes of Dorset
·         Kings German Legion

Access Centre:

We have 3 workstations with PCs and resources where visitors can research many aspects of Bexhill's history. There is no need to book and use of this facility is included in the museum entry - please see the Your Visit page for details of ticket price.

Education Room:

The Education Room can accommodate up to 30 children (seated) with accompanying staff.

Larger groups can be booked depending upon requirements.

The newly refurbished museum now offers visitor-friendly facilities including:

  • Fully accessible entrance, galleries and circulating spaces
  • Shop
  • Toilets (including disabled)
  • Lift and easy stairs
  • Refreshments
  • Fully equipped Education Room available for student and school visits, also available for hire
  • Collections Access Centre for research
